"Actually I PREFER to > keep wild caught > fish for reasons of Looks, Vigor and less chance of > line bred problems" John I agree with you on many of those points. However you are an experienced breeder John and you know how to handle such fish. I do too. In fact wild fish are much easier to breed in my opinion. However they do have their problems and the novice can be easily discouraged. "less chance of > line bred problems" I think we often confuse the term line breeding. In breeding is not a bad thing folks. when a breeder breeds fish for coloration, behavior and othe rpositive traits we are Line breeding of fixing these positve traits into our fish. I breed fish for positive brooding behavior as well as coloration. I will say my fish are superior then the avg Joe because of it. this what folks like Jack Wattley and others do with Discus. We dont have to breed a fancy variety of a fish to line breed. We may choose to keep a good old Apisto boirelli a Apisto borelli but we breed for positive brooding behaviors only breeding and rasing those fish that exhibit those good behaviors and thus make good aquaruim inhabitants. I think we need to graduate fish just tring to breed fish to doing something with them. That what Id like to think I am doing with my fish. I think where the term in-breeding get s abad rap is when we as hobbyist just haphazardly breed fish at random and spread fish that are egg eater s etc and then in breeding gets a bad rap but this is not line breeding . Line breeding is educated breeding or breeding with a plan. well my 4 cents Dave Sanchez --- John Wubbolt <BigJohnW@webtv.net> wrote: > > I guess outside of the Agassizi, Juruensis, Hoignei, > Trifasciata, sp > Maulbruter, sp Cara Pintada, Cf Cacatuoides, > Nijsenni, Gephyra and > Bitaeniata.......
