Marshel,

I use a Tetra GH & KH hardness kit, a simple Wardley electrical 
conductivity probe (10 µS accuracy), and a laboratory grade pH meter 
that I got cheap. Experience with my local water means that I rarely 
need to test except at the changes of the seasons or when something 
seems wrong.
