Try getting a separate culture started in a glass jar. I had a culture
of rotifers (is that the English word??) that I got from a friend. You
may try the Liquifry and some tank water as a starter culture, it may
work and it would be a lot cleaner.

Add a huge clump of Java moss as well, there's always something edible in
there.
