Re: suggestions needed

Daryl......my experience was to put just the one pair in a WELL planted
15 gallon tank and fed the bejesus' out of them with live food. But
remember I am a big believer that WILD fish are looking for a place to
spawn, but not if it's not in there "natural" water conditions. You
take a fish from soft water near pH of 4.5 and put them in my tap water
and they will survive but the female will not come into season....there
is NO proof of this it is just 30+ years of watching and listening to
stories of spawning fish. The closer the fish are to wild the more the
female needs the parameters of the wild to bring HER into "season" which
in turn brings the male to readyness. If those A. gibbeceps are even F1
or F2 they need LOW pH and softness........mine spawned in pH of 4.8-5.1
and 20 microsiemens.....that's pretty soft, those are pretty drastic
numbers!

Certianly some of our valued tropicals will violate all of what I just
said but those "difficulte" to spawn fish.......nature never made such a
thing....difficult to spawn......they just need certiaN "THINGS" TO SET
THEM OFF........give them that and i guarantee they will spawn. We did
learn from the discus didn't we? In the middle 60's anyone who spawned
discus was next to God........now that we found that all they were doing
was giving them 83-84 degrees of temp and soft acid
waters.....bingo.....your little sister could breed them.....just find
out what sets em' off!!!

Have a good day and have fun!
.......Lisa, Santa will get you for this....HEH,HEH,HEH!.....just
kidding!( that's inside folks!)
