At first I thought it was only my lack of experience that made it so difficult to keep, but after meeting with german blue rams experts who raise them, who also have very big difficulties in keeping them I stop feeling sorry for myself. You have to be patient and find the proper combination, of water conditions, and aquarium setup, you will be able to keep and enjoy them. I Think from experience that when buying them they should be good specimens to start with. One of the biggest problems on the market, is aquiring good specimens. By the way on a last note, when I first started with Rams, I had 2 in a 25 gal aquarium mixed with another 30 other species of fish, including small sharks, gouramis, catfish, eels, etc. and very rarely changed the water, and never having a problem. Then I bought another aquarium, and kept in my 25 gal only rams and neons and one ancestrus, change and test my water regularly, and since then I only have problems. Go figure - ------=_NextPart_000_0001_01BD71F9.2A1BC3E0 Content-Type: message/rfc822 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Disposition: attachment Reply-To: <apisto@majordomo.pobox.com> From: "Matthew Bourne" <matthewb@hothouse.com.au> To: <apisto@majordomo.pobox.com> Subject: RE: Sick Ram - Help Please! Problem with em is that they show symptoms too later and die too quickly to treat. I'm going to give Rams a break for a while and come back to em in about a year, hopefully some more experience under my belt will assist me with this truely beautiful fish.
