Re: curviceps

Laetacara curviceps is easily sexed once they get to about 2" SL. Then the males have more pointed tips on the dorsal and anal fins. Females will look more plump. It is probably the easiest of the dwarf acaras to breed. Water perameters aren't very critical. Every book on dwarfs has something on them. Get one out an read up.

Does anyone out there know anything about curviceps?  I've purchased several books and have scanned the net exstensively; very little information about this species seems to be available.  Are there any curvicep specialists willing to share their information?  My most important question is how to sex them.  I have two in a 20 gal. planted tank with six white clouds, three otocats and three ghost shrimp. One curvicep chases the other relentlessly, causing the slightly smaller to hide.  They look very similar.  They are at least two inches each (excluding tail).  Please help.  I want to know how available females are if I have two males and vice versa if females are my case.    Thanks,        Franq
