Right now I'd just leave well enough alone. If the rams keep the neons away from
the fry, that's great. If you lose them, well your rams will breed again. Just
remove the excess fish before they spawn again. When planning to breed fish, any
kind of fish, a little preplanning is really helpful. When my cichlids come out
of the quarantine tank, for example, they go right into the breeding tank - even
if they are too young to breed. The only cichlids that go into a community tank
are excess fish or fish past their breeding prime. Since they aren't my breeding
stock I don't care if they successfully reproduce or not.
