Quiet pumps
I am sharing a very small three-bedroom duplex with four kids, so I have
found my bedroom doing double duty as a fish room. I bought a Penn Plax XP5
pump because it claimed to be "ultra quiet". Well, the actual "pump" part is
quiet enough, but the vibration of the armature swinging in response to the
AC fluctuations in the electro-magnetic coil manages to make just as much
noise as any I have tried. Now I notice that they all claim to be "ultra
quiet", a phrase vague enough to avoid lawsuits. Since they no longer make
"Silent Giants", which were literally silent, I can't seem to find a good,
quiet, pump.
Without going all the way to a blower, has anyone bought a pump that
surprized them with its noise level?
