The barbels on Cory will grow back like G. Kadar says once the water
conditions improve.
But if the fish is in really bad shape, even after water changes
sometime they are too far gone and never recoup. Then you end up
losing the fish. Corys can't live with out their barbels. It's what
they use to help them find their food. Corys are sometimes like a
Canary in a Mine shaft. A good indicator that water has gone bad and
is desperately in need of a change.
