Re: [GSAS-board] Plant auction

Hi Susan,

Good question, how about this as an idea.  We could have a member with a clipboard that monitored the tables.  They could answer questions and if someone wanted an item they with mark down the item number; bidder number; and amount.  Periodically (maybe every 15 minutes - 30 minutes?) the page would be turned it into the cashier for processing.

I like the idea of a fixed price also, but when do people pay? It would be quite easy for someone to forget to pay during the excitement of the auction and in their plant pile.

For example I like the idea of "Buy It Now"
tables for more generic items (maybe a couple of tables with "$5 and less"
and "$5 - $10").  If we set those tables up away from the auction area the
disturbance to bidding, runners, auctioneer should be minimal.

If we could distribute a price sheet for the fixed price items, that might reduce foot traffic to that area. People would be informed about the items for sale but could also stay in their seats paying attention to the auction--unless there was something they wanted to examine for purchase.
