Camellanus responds to 'levamisole'.Camellanus are the
thread-like red worms you sometimes see hanging from a
fish's vent. Aquarium Pharmecuticals sells it under
the label Discomed. As much as I despise medicating
fish I *have* successfully treated camellanus
infestations in killies and african cichlids (to the
point where the fish recovered and reproduced
successfully) by following the directions on the box
-> mix with readily eaten food like blackworms or
tubifex, feed 2x a day for 2 weeks. The amusing thing
is, they don't sell enough pills in one box of
Discomed for 2 weeks of treatment :-( My success with
this has been very well documented in the Krib when I
first wrote about it in 1989 :-) It's the only 'trade'
fish medication I've found that was good for anything.
At least 'Melafix' makes the tanks smell nice.
