You can probably get away with fingerlings for a while, however if the water is kept at 76 degress and higher, they grow very rapidly. Even after being raised w/ plants, they reach that 'magic' age and dig up anything they can. Forget out floaters, the hanging roots are like potato chips. I also assumed they were doing it because they like to play.
