Re: [GSAS-Member] excitement: a place to overwinter shubunkins!

Hey Betty,

I just realized yesterday that one of your shubunkins has been overwintering
down here in my koi tank!

In the melee of the koi growout contest and my constant quest for Belonesox
food greatly overpowering my H20 holding capacity last summer, fish got dumped
together in so many different containers that I guess I lost track of who was
who. In the process, apparently one of the group of shubunkin feeders you gave
me decided it was in his best interests to pretend he was a koi and hang out in
the Keepers tub. I didnt notice in late fall when I consolidated all
containers, dumped half of them into the outside pond, and threw the last
remaining eight or so into a ten gallon aquarium inside to wait out the winter.

I had a little *which one of these is not like the others* moment after a
half-hearted cleaning in this VERY dirty tank yesterday; that cute &
not-so-little calico bloke doesnt have any whiskers! It took me a while to
figure out how he got in there, but suddenly it all made sense.

He (she?) is the little swan in the duckling tank right now and seems quite
content to be amongst the lucky few inside, but I would gladly trade him back
when it warms up for any more of, well, what he was originally destined for,
lets say. ;+)

One of these days I will snap a picture of him for you! And the mouths he
escaped... (yes Cliff, I know I need to post some updated Belonesox pics!)

Missed you (& you too Cliff!) at the auction, & the offer of a ride to the
meeting one of these days while it is dark too early for you still stands.

Cheers,
Connie
