Re: [AGA-sc] Ouch

They were hustling just before and during the conference.
YEt, there were times before we got down to the wire when
they weren't working all that hard and they were damnably
unresponsive and, imo, irresponsible. What they could have
benefited most form me they not only refused, they
downright ignored. The early lack of effort, I chalk up to
their not knowing what to do or it not occur to them that
more needed to be done. But they turned down a lot of help
in the wrong places. And simply overestimated the
willingness of volunteers to actually work. Those that do,
work hard, but most don't show up at all and that happened
with GWAPA.

I think Ivo was an embarrassing bust as Treasurer. The only
budget stuff he sent us was exactly what I had previously
sent him, except for a few notations -- and each time we
had to practically beg for the stuff. I don't mind doing it
but if I had been responsible for it I would have been more
on top of it. Maybe I should have been more on top of it
any how.

I don't think there was any cross checking between
registrant lists and the expense/revenues listing.

And few believe how easily the cashiering can get whacky.
Cheryl did a great job under pressure and with surprises
coming her way hourly, it seemed. We can do better. Were
will we store the money, who's taking it home, who's
keeping track and with what? I think each of those
questions were answered at the last minute. I'm not
faulting any of the AGA folks. I'm just saying we can do
better next time.

Re the auction money management, well, enough said about
auctions for now. I hope Ray calls soon so he can calm me
down from this rant ;-)
