I think we need a LOT more discretion when it comes to vendor/sponsor "deals". You have to look at the total value on both sides, rather than having a cast-in-stone rate. As I've said MANY times now, sometimes the benefit of having a low margin vendor there who has something that really adds to the convention is well worth giving them the space at a lower cost. And as a comparison, I think NEC charges something like $25 per table for vendors.
