It will be interesting to see the feedback for this exact reason. My friends from Portland gave me their (uncorrupted by me) rundown: "If I had been a total newbie, I probably wouldn't have noticed anything at all, but as someone who has run several regional conventions, the first thing I thought when seeing Rick was 'This isn't the sort of guy to be running a convention!'".
So yeah, we are probably seeing all the seams and filtration system that is covered for most people.
Oh, something else they told me was they were shocked that Ray didn't get an ad in the convention program. They didn't understand that we did the ads based on monetary sponsorships (they put an ad for Ray in every one of their newsletters in Portland because they have a long-standing relationship with the guy). But it did make me wonder if we're backing ourselves into a corner with this "only sponsors get ads" policy... it really doesn't let us show any other ads or logos at our discretion.
