This really isn't the place for an Evolution vs. Creationism debate, and I
really wasn't trying to get into one with my initial post -- I was just
trying to share some interesting behaviors with the group and at the same
time get some advice for the next round....
_But_ that all being said, "evolution" doesn't mean one species 'all of a
sudden' or spontaneously "gives birth to a different species". That is a
common misconception. Evolution is a pretty slow process, and speciation
occurs _over time_ not in one fell swoop or generation.
If anyone would like more information, I would suggest looking over this
intro to evolutionary biology:

with
Evolution. Rams beget rams : )
If the parents ate the eggs, which often happens as we all know, it
wouldn't
be considered a "strength". In fact, that same beta-female would likely
eat
her own eggs, too. Maybe she just likes caviar. In the wild, food is
scarce for fish, so they have the instinct to eat food whenever and where
ever they see it.
