there are several very good ro units that are relatively inexpensive, on 
the market...Toni-Ann Mistretta at web 
address...http://.ee.pdx.edu/~davidr/discus/articles/ROsurvey.html...discuses in detail 16 RO units in detail...this is a very good way to lower 
hardness...this is a discus site article and of course they reqire very 
soft water...approx 50 micro siem. or lower for breeding according to 
Jack Whattley, a professional discus breeder...hope this helps.
