Yeah, but didn't we tell Amano back in 2001 that the DVD sales wouldn't make a "profit" or something? That makes no sense.

Here is the original agreement for 2001 from ADA: "We agree you include Mr. Amano's and my presentation in your 6-hour video tape, as long as the video is produced only for AGA members and AG readers, and not marketed for commercial base and not making profit."

There's two ways to look at this. First, from the "by the numbers" viewpoint, it's a little iffy that the AGA makes $10-15 per copy. But I would note that the AGA by definition is not-for-profit, so any money brought in from the disks allows the AGA to pay for other projects. My part of the income gets used for postage, artwork, packaging, and partial reimbusement for all the stuff I've bought to produce these things.

But one can also look at what Nozomi is saying as "keep it as a club perq. Don't sell it commercially." Which is exactly what we're doing.

What I really want to know is, if we get the 2004 Convention DVD mass-re-produced, is there any reason we can't sell them 50 at a time to a guy in Singapore for him to sell to his web site customers?

I would say NO, that is most definitely not in the spirit of the agreement with Amano and the other speakers.

Amano is not going to sell his DVD, btw, but give it away as freebies to customers who come in the store.
