No, forgive _me_ for being so verbose and assuming ;-) It's have to be _really_ unique, though. It's my understanding, as has been mentioned, that Badis is a rather close- knit Genus, containing only one species - badis - and 3 "subspecies" - badis, buchanani and siamensis. A common name for B. badis siamensis is "Blue Dwarf". That term "dwarf" is the only cross- tie that I can make, though, to Apistogramma. Badis in general are also known as "Chameleon Fish" for some of the remarkable color shifts of the type I noted in the description page. And their stripes (seven, coincidentally) fade along with the same mood sings as the Apistos, not to mention the facial markings so similar to Apisto orbitals. Although not as extensively experienced with Apistos as some on the List, at the time I stumbled across my first Badis _I_ was certainly fooled. And I had thought my observational skills a little more keen than that ;-) If we're into tieing them to some form of Apisto, we're probably in Mike or Julio's (sorry, guys - just the _first_ importer to pop in my head) arena. Mike Wise has been hard at work collating a huge library of common names - perhaps his references are hiding some little tidbit... -Y- ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is the apistogramma mailing list, apisto@listbox.com.
