The original description of A. meinkeni (in English) is in: Kullander, S. O.
1980. A Taxonomical Study of the Genus Apistogramma Regan, with a Revision of
Brazilian and Peruvian Species (Teleostei: Percoidei: Cichlidae). Bonner
Zoologische Monographien, Nr. 14. pp. 118-122. There's a revision to Haseman's
1911 description of A. pertensis in this volume, too.

Try to see if your local library can find it and get it through interlibrary
loan. It's not a very common publication. Probably only university libraries will
have it. Apistogramma Study Group members can order a copy of the A. meinkeni
description from me for about $1.00 including postage, etc. Just one of the perks
of belonging to the ASG.

Another note. Although the photo shows 7, maybe 8, spot rows on the tail,
Kullander states that they can have up to 10 rows of spots on the tail. Again,
it's not the number of rows, but their width and distribution that counts.

p.s. Marco & Julio: Got every one of your requested papers photocopied. I'll send
them later this week or early next week.
